Lost in Cyberspace

Posted by Allen Bullard in Untagged

As everyone enjoys getting the "formal invitation" to the club ride, we keep on getting a few emails returned to us as "undelivered mail". I have asked that if you are not receiving your email to contact me with your correct email address. Only one person did this (Thanks Lance). The following people must please send me their corrected (or new) email addresses. If I do not get them by end September, I will remove your details from my list.

ON TRACK by Ingrid Schofield

While I was growing up there were two things that never made my “things to do before I die” list.  One was to ride around a race track.  Another was to ride a motorbike.  Yet last Saturday I did both – at the same time.

On my trusty (rusty?) steed I joined the others – males – at Roy Hesketh for the BMW Rider Proficiency Course and, for a while at least, was the only rose amongst the thorns for what turned out to be a very interesting day. With temperatures rising to the upper 20’s (remember this is mid-winter)  we perspired – sorry, the two ladies glowed – in the heat in our protective bike gear so it was a. pleasure to be able to ride around the track in the airflow jacket to cool down – with me getting faster and braver on each lap.

Pulitzer Prize for our Website?

Posted by Allen Bullard in Untagged

Allen Bullard

The Pulitzer Prize (pronounced /ˈpʊlɨtsər/) is a World renowned U.S award for achievements in newspaper and online journalism, amongst other categories. It is however these two categories that interest www.durbanbmwclub.co.za the most. In an effort to enhance the content and the participation of all club members in the club website, we are going to offer a monthly prize for the best “Ride Report” story – illustrated with photos of course, and the best Forum thread.

Club Bring 'N Braai Party Postponed.

Posted by Allen Bullard in Untagged

Due to the rush of 3 RSVPs confirming and 10 saying they can't make it, it's difficult to plan a party at the last minute. So, we have decided to postpone the party until the 10 negatives turn into positives and that everyone can make it . Watch this space

Email Communications direct to your computer!

Posted by Allen Bullard in Untagged

Allen Bullard

Hello everyone!

You will notice that I have started sending out "formal invitations" to join the Sunday Club Ride. These emails have done 2 things. They have increased our turnout to the ride, but also underlined the fact that our members need to be informed personally! So we will continue to do this, but at the same time all the info will still be on the website as usual.

Memorial Ride 1 August 2010 - Rawdons RSVP

Posted by Allen Bullard in Untagged

Allen Bullard

Hello All! After a great ride to Lords of the Manor on Sunday, the time has now arrived to focus on the long scheduledMemorial Ride which will take place on Sunday 1st August. We have booked out Rawdons as a venue, but as they have a smallish kitchen they have asked us for "numbers" . So, if you are reading this and want to attend this ride, please email me at the following address giving your name and "how many" to birdman@global.co.za

A memorial ride is always one that people feel that they don't want to get involved in for various reasons, but this is a ride to honour those club members who rode with us and have sadly passed. Please make every effort to come along on this Sunday.  We'll say a few words before we leave and then be on our way - a normal Sunday Breakfast ride to a great venue. So when you've read this, RSVP.
